Background

Katsina State Nurses Welfare Scheme (KANWES) is a scheme established and took effect on 1st june, 1999 to cater for the well being and welfare of the entire nurses and midwives in katsina state of Nigeria by enhancing their general welfare through economic, social, and moral support.

Mission: Be a leading proactive, accessible, transparent, sustainable, and reliable welfare scheme in which member’s wellbeing is the main topic for discussion

Vision: Unity toward better well being, welfare, self reliance, self sustainability, self actualization, self esteem and self accomplishment

Objectives/activities

Objectives of the scheme are focused towards enhancing the psycho-socio-economic status of the entire nurses and midwives of katsina state in the following specific ways;

  • To create an avenue for maintaining unity and self reliance among nurses and midwives of katsina state
  • Provision of assistance to victims of accident, natural disaster, illness, and bereaved nurses
  • Provision of interest free loan loan to members in cases of educational pursuit, illness, professional endeavors, and other cases as may be determined by the BOT
  • Conduct business activities in order to generate revenue for the scheme and for the benefit of the participating members

Board of trustees (BOT)

the leadership of the scheme is in the hands of a five(5) men board of trustees which are nominated by the NANNM state administrative council to serve for a tenure that last for four(4) years after which another set of trustees are nominated to replace them. The existing bot members are:

  • Nr Muhammad Nuraddeen Umar as chairman
  • Nr Sani Hamza as secretary
  • Nr Maryam Abdul as financial secretary
  • Nr Aisha Namadi as auditor
  • Nr Aminu Umar as treasurer
